How do guests pay their check?

Guests have four ways to pay their check using Vemos Pay.


1. Pay Directly in the App or App Clip

  • Guests can open the Vemos Pay app or rescan the QR code/NFC tag.
  • From there, they access their check, select “Pay”, and follow the on-screen steps to complete payment.

2. Auto-Close with Geofence

  • If a guest leaves the venue, their tab will automatically close based on geofence settings.
  • Auto-gratuity will be included if configured.
  • ⚙️ Best practice: Set your geofence to 2–3 blocks in the Vemos Dashboard to ensure accuracy and prevent checks from closing while guests are still inside.

3. Auto-Close by End-of-Night (EON) Settings

  • Based on your EON settings in the Vemos Dashboard, all open tabs in Vemos Pay will automatically close at the set time.
  • If you’ve never configured Vemos Pay, these settings default to your Toast EON settings.
  • ⏱ Expect a 5–7 minute delay as all checks are processed.

4. Pay at the POS (Not Recommended)

  • Guests can also choose to pay directly at the POS.
  • Since payment details are stored between Toast and Vemos, staff must manually run the guest’s card to close the check.

⚠️ This method can cause confusion — we recommend the first 3 options for a smoother process.
